I'm not a car enthusiast so I can't make a choice. They all have good things and bad. My dream is to build a Frankenstein machine with a combination of auto maker's philosophy.

Tough and solid as an 80's Volvo

Sporty chassis like a BMW, Porsche, Lotus

Fit, finish, and quality of a Lexus

Dependable power house of an LS engine

Technology of a Ford or Audi

all in a package as complete and classy as a Mercedes-Benz.

The perfect vehicle does not exist imo, it never will. Only way is to build it my dagum self. But since i'm getting married in a couple months, its going to have to wait about 20 ish years lol. Come on 2034 :]

Also like my user name says Volvo is close to my heart as well. There is a lot of family history in the brand. The first car I've ever driven was one of my brother's many many 740s. I've never had the privilege of owning one myself.

Great automaker and though I had once doubted them all too recently (stupid Dany Bahar), the fact that they still decided to make the 2300 lb, 350hp V6 Exige makes me very happy (but I blame the fact that I'll never drive one on the lameness of my country when it comes to cool cars). Heck I've even come to respect the Evora now (except for the newer ones with the automatics -_-). A Lotus sedan though? Unacceptable.

While I'd love to have most any Lotus, my future will not be complete without an Exige. And then a Seven (replica). Anything else would be a bonus.

I prefer GM, but I would rather be associated with a brand that hasn't been in the US since the 2.8 Cologne v6 was a thing, TVR. Because fuck normality. they are/were the anti beige. Too lazy to find a pic, but look up "Reflex Spice Sagaris". That and the Cerbrera Speed 12 were some of the most batshit crazy cars ever made. And even though I will probably never own one, I love them. Strictly because they are insane. And, as such a twin turbo LS7 powered Sagaris, at 8-900hp is my dream car, it would provably kill me, but at least I would die with a smile on my face.

Yup. And the supply of the 2.8's was used up-meaning they were going to have to change engines. To get things federalized, they "back doored" the use of the 2.8 because it was in the states already. They were going to try to use the 2.9 + try the trick again, but it didnt happen. The cost to get a motor approved was too expensive to pas on the price amongst the 150 or so cars a year sold. As must as I love my quattro, I'm still a die-hard Subaru fan. I love their function-over-form, engineering-first mentality. I love their dedication to the boxer engine, which I still think is the most superior non-rotary engine configuration. I love that even though it's been decades since they built a RWD car, they still hit it out of the park with the engineering of the BRZ. I love the way their company is structured and run. I love the charities they donate to. I love their dedication to a green manufacturing process. I love how intently they listen to their fans and customers. I love how they've never given up on the manual transmission. I love how quirky they've always been, never afraid to try something new, even if it's a little bit weird or out there.

Basically, I can't think of anything about Subaru that I don't like.

Despite all my deliberation with myself, I think I have to agree with you. Half of my favorite models by ford never even made it to the states. But for such a massive powerhouse of an automaker, they make some of the most interesting cars when they're on their game. I find myself buying several Fords in every racing game: the hatchbacks, escorts, RS200, GT, various Mustangs. I also appreciate they were the one american automaker that didn't ask for bail out money. The first car I ever worked on was a '96 Mustang too. I Learned to drive stick in it, and had my first go at a drag strip with it. My dad and I built it up pretty well before selling it to some kid I was sure would wrap it around a pole some day. My runner up is probably Datsun/Nissan though. I can't shake my love of 510's,240's,Silvia's, and GTR's...

Bullet proof engines are out there, but they all go to shit way to early nowadays especially. This is a hard one. I grew up GM. My car guy adolescence was spent in Mazdas and BMWs, my car guy adulthood has included huge chunks of Jeep. I aspire to 911s, 458s, Reventons, among others. I guess I'll go with my first love: Oldsmobile.

If i was forced to pick id be rolling with Toyota. Racing history runs through my father's side. I rally so a lot of the cars i've owned have been modified into monsters or are AWD rally pure breeds. First rally was in a '83 Toyota MR2. First win was in a '04 Toyota Celica. I now have a 2014 VW Beetle hill climber and a 2008 Fiesta ST (the American 4 door that's been rallied once and is my daily driver). I wish i could jump back into a Toyota though. The pictures are similar to the Celica i use to rally but this isn't the actual car sadly.
